Samsung Galaxy A competing with OnePlus 6 & Xiaomi Pocophone

The OnePlus 6 is the clear leader in the Indian premium smartphone market. According to Counterpoint, OnePlus beat Samsung for the first time ever in a full quarter in Q2 2018 in India’s premium smartphone market (₹30,000 and above). OnePlus now has 40% share of the market, while Samsung is in second place.
Samsung launched the Samsung Galaxy A8+ in India earlier this year as a competitor to the OnePlus 5T. The Galaxy A8+ was powered by the Exynos 7882 SoC and it featured an Infinity Display in a first for the Galaxy A series. It was priced at ₹33,000, but it failed to stop OnePlus’ momentum.
Now, a report by IANS states that Samsung India is gearing up to refresh its Galaxy A series with a new phone. The upcoming Samsung Galaxy A series phone will be launched this month and it will be positioned in the premium segment, with a price tag of ₹30,000 and above.
Citing industry sources, the IANS report also revealed the major specifications of the phone. It will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 system-on-chip. The phone will have 6GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage.
The new Galaxy A series phone will have a 6.3-inch Full HD+ AMOLED Infinity Display with small bezels. It will have 16MP + 24MP dual rear cameras along with Samsung’s Live Focus (hardware-level portrait mode) feature, along with a 24MP front-facing camera.
The upcoming Galaxy A series phone will compete directly with the OnePlus 6, Asus ZenFone 5Z, Huawei Nova 3,  and the upcoming Xiaomi Poco F1 (which will be branded as Pocophone F1 in global markets). It will be Samsung India’s second big smartphone launch in August, coming after the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. The Galaxy Note 9 will be released in India on August 22 with a starting price tag of ₹67,900 for the 6GB RAM/128GB storage variant.
